In the following example we're going to show you how to create a custom expense report,
using the program's flexibility with reports and search. This is just one of Budgets Get Real's
many features, this software is packed with ways to help you keep track of expenses.

Creating a Custom Expense Report.
In this case a vehicle expense report.
 

1. Start by setting categories

Budgets Get Real includes a number of standard categories to which you can add your own.
Because the categories are pre-set, you only have to add any that we've missed!
These are the default categories listed under Transport.

You can add or exclude as many categories as you would like.

Active - Turn expense categories on or off as needed. Turning off categories that you don't need makes selecting from the categories that you do need easier, because they will be relevant to your needs.

Budget - Exclude or Include categories in your budget as needed.
Because if you choose to budget for expenses, you might not want to budget for everything.

Progress - Choose how your spending progress displays against a budget.
Current spending displays by default (Auto).
 

2. Allocate Expenses to Categories

When you import your transactions you can associate them with the categories that you have chosen or created. Budgets Get Real saves you time, by learning which categories you put expenses in.
Show it a couple of times, and it will automatically do it for you from then on.

This is a huge timesaver that can save you 90% of the time you might spend using other expense tracking software. In fact, we challenge you to find a program that can do this faster.

Once you have associated transactions to categories you will be able to view them in reports.
It also makes searching your expenses easier.

3. Use Search to Create Reports as needed.

In this case you could use Search to provide yourself with a detailed report for all vehicle expenses.

You can also use the built-in Income & Expense Report to see how much you are spending in different areas over a period of time, you can also compare this against your budget.

If you are using Search to create a custom report, one of the easiest ways to search is by category. To create a vehicle expense report I have chosen to display all Expense transactions for Transport.

You can specify a date range that you wish to view expenses for, or remove the dates entirely to view all of the transactions you have entered. A range of other sorting & search options are available to you.

Search, Sort and Filter the Data however you need to.
